What to Expect at a Hunter Valley Cellar Door Tasting
Planning a visit to the Hunter Valley? A cellar door tasting is the best way to experience the region properly.
If you have never done one before, here is what to expect, and how to make the most of it.
A Relaxed, Guided Experience
At First Creek, tastings are guided by our knowledgeable cellar door team. You will be taken through a curated selection of wines, with insights into each variety, vintage conditions and what makes Hunter Valley wines distinctive.
You do not need to be an expert. Tastings are designed to be informative without being overwhelming.
How Long Does a Tasting Take?
Most tastings run for around 45 to 60 minutes. That gives you time to move through the wines comfortably, ask questions and decide on favourites.
If you are visiting during a busy weekend or public holiday, booking ahead is recommended.
What Wines Will You Taste?
Typically, you will taste a mix of white and red wines. This may include:
- Hunter Valley Chardonnay
- Rosé
- Semillon
- Shiraz
- Limited or premium releases
If you have a preference, let the team know. They can often tailor the experience.
Can You Buy Wine on the Day?
Yes. In fact, tasting first helps you buy with confidence. If you discover something you love, you can take it home with you or organise shipping.
Many visitors also join Friends First while they are in cellar door, which gives access to updates, releases and exclusive offers.
