Truffles + Terroir: First Creek Wines Pours at Gather This August
Winter in the Hunter Valley calls for something rich. On Thursday 27 August, First Creek Wines joins Gather at Rydges Resort Hunter Valley for Truffles + Terroir, an evening built around earthy food and the wines to match.
It is a collaboration between the Gather kitchen and our winemaking team. Fresh truffle runs through every course, and we have chosen four wines to bring out its depth.
The night opens with our Botanica NV Brut Cuvee and warm sourdough with truffle butter. From there the kitchen serves a three-course menu, each dish paired with a First Creek wine:
- Pork cheek and celeriac terrine with black truffle, paired with our 2024 Classic Chardonnay
- Dry-aged duck breast with truffle jus and radicchio, paired with our 2024 Special Release Sangiovese
- Hunter Valley cheese with fresh shaved truffle, paired with our 2022 Classic Shiraz
Every pour reflects what we have built since 1998: regional wines made to be approachable and enjoyable. Our Chief Winemaker Liz Silkman was named Halliday Winemaker of the Year in 2025, the first from the Hunter Valley to hold the title, and these are the wines you will taste on the night.
