The synergy of an exceptional winemaker, vineyard and vintage has resulted in a quintessential expression of aged Hunter Valley semillon. Sweet lemon aromas mingle with hints of almond, lime curd and shale. A pristine core of soft, bright citrus fruit belies its age. It displays a magnificent balance of tertiary complexity, freshness and depth, and the persistence is phenomenal.

As the impact of very young semillon flavours and mouthfeel diminishes over 12 months, so does the mouthfeel and the flavour change. Finesse emerges as the texture of the long palate moves to the face-off between the alcohol and the titratable acidity. The result here is a freshness that will underpin the slow move to maturity.

Single Vineyard

The Single Vineyard collection represents the most site-specific wines First Creek Wines produces — expressions tied to an individual block of vines, a named vineyard, and the precise combination of soil, slope, and microclimate that makes that site different from every other block in the Hunter Valley.

Each wine in the range is named for the vineyard of origin: Will's Hill Shiraz, Oakey Creek Semillon, and Creyke Shiraz are all drawn from parcels with documented histories and recognisable flavour signatures that go beyond what a regional or varietal blend can achieve. These are the wines that wine collectors and serious enthusiasts reach for — and that critics consistently score highly.
