Single Vineyard Oakey Creek Semillon 2019
Pale with green freshness. Lime leaf, fennel seed & chamomile tea on the nose. Light-bodied, pure & ethereal with massive latent power held in by tightly-wound acidity, fabulous structure, notes of quinine and lemon pith, and laser-like flavour & drive. Excellent focus.
Pickled fennel, grapefruit pulp, lemon drop and bitter almond. Delicious, melding well with the gently phenolic scrape across the palate, that defines the '19 vintage. I'm very fond of '19. There is an intense thrust of extract as this opens, juxtaposed beautifully against a parry of structure, allowing the flavours to twist and turn long. Exceptional wine in the making. Like sucking on pumice and pebbles.
