Pale with green freshness. Lime leaf, fennel seed & chamomile tea on the nose. Light-bodied, pure & ethereal with massive latent power held in by tightly-wound acidity, fabulous structure, notes of quinine and lemon pith, and laser-like flavour & drive. Excellent focus.
This was the fourth year of First Creek making a single-vineyard Oakey Creek semillon. The wine saw some lees maturation post-ferment to add texture and palate weight. This wine is right in the pocket with bright lemon-butter tones accented with nutty cracked wheat and smoked nuts. The wine is powerful yet soft and highly refined with fabulous purity and is remarkably unevolved considering its age. It has energy and liveliness, which makes it particularly compelling. Utterly delicious now with potential for further development.
